HUI NOʻEAU VISUAL ARTS CENTER

In partnership with the Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center in Makawao, Maui.

Since 2017, Ke Kumu Hawaiʻi has been deeply grateful for the opportunity to return again and again to Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center in Makawao. Over the years, this partnership has grown into a meaningful relationship rooted in creativity, culture, and community. Together, we have offered a wide range of weaving workshops and cultural classes, from traditional baskets to contemporary projects, each one an invitation for learners of all ages to connect with Hawaiian knowledge in hands-on, purposeful ways.

The mission of Hui Noʻeau—to unlock creativity and inspire the community through the arts—aligns closely with our vision of perpetuating Hawaiian traditions while fostering a sense of belonging and identity. Through this shared purpose, we are able to create spaces where cultural practices are not only preserved but lived, celebrated, and passed forward.

We are truly blessed to collaborate with the Hui in bringing these teachings to the people of Maui. Each workshop becomes more than a class; it becomes a bridge between past and present, weaving not just materials but relationships, carrying forward the wisdom of our kūpuna while inspiring future generations to continue the story.
