HIKI OLA

In partnership with Hiki Ola, Kealakekua, Hawaiʻi.

Ke Kumu Hawaiʻi is deeply grateful for our partnership with Hiki Ola in Kealakekua. Working alongside this organization has allowed us to extend our weaving practices and cultural teachings to the people of Hawaiʻi Island, nurturing connections that strengthen both community and identity. Over the years, we have collaborated on projects that invite haumāna to learn the art of ulana ʻie, embracing not only the technical skills of weaving but also the values of patience, respect, and aloha embedded in the practice.

Hiki Ola’s mission to empower and uplift the community through cultural education aligns closely with our own vision of perpetuating Hawaiian knowledge for future generations. Together, we create opportunities where learners can ground themselves in the traditions of their kūpuna while discovering their own voices within the weave.

It is an honor for Ke Kumu Hawaiʻi to continue this collaboration with Hiki Ola, sharing ʻike that binds us to our ancestors and to one another. Each gathering becomes more than a class—it is a celebration of culture, resilience, and the enduring strength of community.
